I kept going back and forth with the question “Does the mainstream media tend to be more liberal or conservative” and at the end I decided that when it comes down to it, it depends on what news station you are watching. I can’t say that the media tends to be more liberal or conservative because I think it is fifty-fifty. There is a bias in the media and it isn’t based on the story it’s based on the station.
I have read a lot of articles on the mainstream media being more liberal vs. being more conservative. Some of them came flat out and said the media is more conservative or more liberal. That right there is one of things that showed me that the media is bias depending on what station you are watching. Also, I think it depends on the story as well as who is reporting it. 
If I had to decide I would say that the mainstream media is more liberal. I would say it’s more liberal because when news reporters are discussing an issue their going to say what they want. They are not going to be thinking ‘I need to sound liberal right now’ or ‘I need to sound conservative’. At the end of the day they are going to say what’s on their mind.

ReplyDeleteI think you've got a great start here, but you're not following the exact format.
You've got the intro. Then, your second paragraph should be the opposing view. Since you conclude that the media is more liberal, your second paragraph should discuss who/what states that the media is conservative. Address your opponent, and then intellectually defeat them in the third paragraph.
Set up:
1. intro of topic/issue
2. opposing view
3. your view/analysis
Secondly, you need to have 3 facts. I like that you listed a video, but what fact did you take away from that video and use in your blog?
Make a list:
1. 10% of voters stated... (www.com)
2. President Obama said, " " (New York Times)
3. In 2001, there was a... (wikipedia)

Most students don't get it the first time around, but I'm sure that you will. You've got a great tone and style. Keep it up1 Follow the guideline and you will do just fine.
